Sheriff Wooten's E-City

Posted on 12/03/2020 by Tommy S. Wooten

Sheriff Tommy Wooten and his wife hold their dog while Christmas decoratingElizabeth City, Pasquotank County NC is my home. I was born and raised in this wonderful small town and couldn’t be prouder of where I live, some would say this is God’s Country and I agree.  I’ve lived here almost forty years and plan on taking my last breath here as well, hopefully not any time soon, Lol!!!  A town that is so full of polite and respectful folks and where the farmers are always looking out for the locals with fresh produce.  Let’s not forget the Downtown Waterfront Market on Saturdays where you can find an array of local crafts and food, right on the beautiful Pasquotank River.

I always love taking a stroll in the downtown area while drinking a fresh coffee from one of the several fabulous coffee shops like Muddy’s or The SweetEasy.  My wife and I dearly love enjoying dinner downtown at some of the best food places in the state, Hoppin' Johnz, The Mills, Montero’s and Cypress Creek Grill just to name a few.  After dinner in downtown Elizabeth City it’s so nice to walk to our favorite microbrewery, Ghost Harbor Brewing Company and enjoy a locally brewed craft beer.

The yearly Christmas Parade or Potato Festival are a couple of the exciting events to attend in Elizabeth City that always makes for fun family time. Since being elected Sheriff of Pasquotank County in 2018, I have noticed a tremendous amount of Elizabeth City downtown makeovers happening. Downtown looks great with new apartment buildings like Weatherly Lofts and more restaurants, such as Big Boss Burritos.  In short, I love this place, I love serving the citizens, and I absolutely love enjoying everything downtown Elizabeth City provides, so stop by Elizabeth City and enjoy a craft beer with me downtown!!!!
