Ghost Walk Fall HeaderPlays, ghosts, parades, art, craft beer and nature, there are so many great reasons to visit Elizabeth City this fall.  During your stay, you can meet our ghostly apparitions, cheer for the hometown football team, shop for one-of-a-kind crafts and be inspired by artists’ creativity. Fall into fun and fall in love with Elizabeth City!

 

Ghost Walk Goodbye- Project ZebraHistoric Ghost Walk
The award-winning Elizabeth City Historic Ghost Walk 2019 is a family-friendly, fun and creative way to watch our local history come alive. No need to fear, our ghostly apparitions only wish to entertain as they spin their tales. Ghost Walk is a history lesson, home tour, and live theater combined in one event. This year’s ghostly theme is Project Zebra: Elizabeth City’s top-secret role in WWII. Start your otherworldly adventure at 5:30 p.m. at Arts of the Albemarle (516 E. Main Street). Performances conclude at 9:30 p.m. and tickets are $12.00 and $10.00 with military ID. Plan to grab a bite to eat while downtown at one of our locally owned restaurants.


ECSU Homecoming ParadeElizabeth City State University Homecoming Parade and Game
Show your Viking Pride!  Homecoming is a time when Elizabeth City State University welcomes alumni back to campus and celebrates what it means to be VIKING.  ECSU students, alumni, and fans gather for a series of events, which span October 16th - 20th, that include campus tours, class meetings, concerts, and the homecoming parade starting at 9:00 a.m, on October 19th. The highlight is the homecoming Elizabeth City State University vs. Lincoln University football game on Saturday, October 19th in Roebuck Stadium (1704 Weeksville Road) at 1:30 p.m.

 

Anne of Green GablesLive Theater
Follow Anne through her rebellious years, her transformation into a young woman, and her romantic pairing with Gilbert in the classic, "Anne of Green Gables" at College of the Albemarle's Performing Arts Center.  For lovers of the classic - interactive movie, bring your toilet paper and rice for the showing of "Rocky Horror" at Arts of the Albemarle!

 

 

River City Rhythm & BrewsRiver City Rhythm & Brews 
Your foot will be tapping at this local event. Enjoy a celebration of regional craft brews—including several brews from the forthcoming Ghost Harbor Brewing Company—and local music on the portico of Museum of the Albemarle (501 S. Water Street) beginning at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $25.00 for Arts of the Albemarle members, $30.00 for non-members, and designated driver tickets are available for $10.00.

 

 

Albemarle Craftsman's Fair

First Friday ArtWalk and 61st Albemarle Craftsman's Fair
Hand-woven baskets, Armenian needlework, stoneware pottery and fiber art creations. Expertly designed and lovingly made by hand, these are just a few of the traditional crafts that will be featured at the Albemarle Craftsman's Fair, which is celebrating its 61st year. This fun weekend event takes place at Knobbs Creek Recreational Center (200 Ward Street) beginning at 10:00 a.m. each day. General admission is $5.00.

 

 

Dismal Day Wagon Rides7th Annual Dismal Day at Dismal Swamp State Park
Come on out for a free, family-friendly festival!  The beautiful Dismal Swamp State Park is the perfect place to enjoy the 5K Fun Run, craft vendors, food, music, cultural exhibits, wagon rides and other fun activities for kids of all ages.  The 5K Fun Run starts at 9 AM - call to pre-register and reserve a t-shirt for purchase.  Rent a canoe, kayak or bike and explore Dismal Swamp State Park!

Swamp Tales Wagon Ride
Take a “haunted wagon ride” and enjoy the two new Swamp Tales about Dismal Swamp legends. May be slightly spooky but family-friendly.

 

SPLASH Art Festival!
This week-long gathering of artists is an opportunity for participants to collaborate, share, and enjoy spontaneous creativity. The artists, who are both local and from distant locales, will be able to enjoy a variety of classes and visitors will be able to see and purchase participants’ art. Artists will immerse themselves in the creative process at the SPLASH Open Studio, a communal art space located in the former Super 10 store on Main Street, next door to Arts of the Albemarle (516 E. Main Street). Be sure to attend the First Friday Artwalk on November 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m., to be inspired by the works of art.
