Looking for somewhere fun to spend the Fourth of July? You’re in luck! Elizabeth City is pulling out all the stops for a full evening of patriotic fun, family-friendly activities, local flavor, and, of course, fireworks.
On Friday, July 4th, begin your evening at 4 pm strolling the First Friday ArtWalk hosted by Elizabeth City Downtown Inc. then head down to Mariners’ Wharf Park , where the Elizabeth City Parks and Recreation 4th of July celebration kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with live music by 2nd Wynd. This energetic band will be rocking the waterfront stage until 8:30 p.m., with a live DJ keeping the good vibes going between sets.
Need something a little more hands-on?
Local business Kinfolk Axe Throwing will be on-site offering free axe throwing for all attendees—a fun and unique way to test your aim. Meanwhile, the City of Elizabeth City Parks and Recreation Department is setting up not one, but two photo booths: a 360-degree booth and an inflatable booth, both offering custom event photos to remember the day.
Bring the kids!
There’ll be a giant inflatable kids’ zone on the lawn of the Museum of the Albemarle, complete with inflatable water cannons—with help from our very own Elizabeth City Fire Department. Visit Elizabeth City will host a fishing game for the tots and kids of all ages can also enjoy face painting, balloon animals, and plenty of space to play while parents relax and take in the sights.
Hungry? Thirsty?
You’ll find plenty of local food trucks serving up festival favorites, and two of Elizabeth City’s local breweries, Ghost Harbor and Seven Sounds, will be pouring their best brews throughout the event.
And of course, no Fourth of July is complete without fireworks. The grand finale will light up the sky sometime between 9:00 and 9:15 p.m., so make sure you stick around and grab a good seat.
