ART

Have you heard about First Friday ArtWalk?  The first Friday of every month our Downtown shops and galleries have a featured artist, musician or author showcasing their talents.   Be sure to hit all the spots so you get to see everything.  If you're still hungry after nibbling on the light food and drinks provided at the participating shops, think about listening to music and grabbing a bite to eat at our fabulous downtown restaurants.

All art lovers should come by River Splash Art Celebration, North Carolina's only city-wide retreat for visual artists.  Artists gather in Elizabeth City from all across the nation to learn, network and share with other artists and the public.

For fans of live performance, we have three great opportunities to catch a show, each by a different theater group!

• Encore Theatre presents "Cotton Patch Gospel" at The Center's Maguire Theater
• College of the Albemarle Performing Arts Center presents "The Little Princess"
• Arts of the Albemarle's children's theater group, The Center Players, presents "The Little Mermaid, Jr."

 

MUSIC

Downtown Elizabeth City is rockin' mid-week and on the weekends.  Check out the weekly and monthly music series as well as individual live performances, a little bit of something for everyone.  Get out there and tap your toes or move to the groove.

OUTDOOR FUN

Visit our playground!  Explore our nature trails and waterways, kayaks are a favorite around here.  There are plenty of fish in our vast waterways, so bring your fishing gear.  Our parks in the downtown are home to many of our festivals and events.  You can even rent a pontoon boat to cruise the Pasquotank River!

• TarWheel Cycling Event - Cycle through three scenic counties or travel the shorter options, something for everyone.
• Dismal Swamp State Park - Hike with a ranger, Spring Wagon Rides and Spring Paddle
• Love Your River - Free, family event with water activities, food trucks, live music. Take a boat tour!
• NC Potato Festival 2020 - Three days of festival fun!  Food, arts and crafts, contests, live entertainment, and a midway full of games and large amusement rides.
