Van’s Pizza House first opened in 1979. It has become well known as a great place for traditional Greek and Italian foods as well as pizzas and subs. In 2001, Spiros Giannakopoulos bought the restaurant and completely renovated it with a professional designer. 

Van’s is the recipient of seven Reader’s Choice Awards for Best Pizza as well as awards for Best Italian Food, Best Salad and Best Subs.  Van’s Pizza House displays a black and white pictorial history of Elizabeth City on several of the restaurant walls.
