Bob was one of the many visitors to discover Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He and his wife were able to enjoy some activities (and meals) that exemplify Elizabeth City's way of life. Find out how Bob spent his time in northeast North Carolina, and learn other ways you can make the most of your time in Elizabeth City! The Great Outdoors
Bob experienced the great outdoors in Elizabeth city by
kayaking on the Dismal Swamp Canal. Not only is the
Dismal Swamp State Park home to a plethora of wildlife, there is also a fascinating history in the area. George Washington explored the landscape, and the swamp played a major role in the
Underground Railroad. The Dismal Swamp State Park is also a great place for hiking and biking along the 16.7 miles of trails. Outside of the Dismal Swamp State Park, you can also enjoy
outdoor recreation in Elizabeth City by
biking,
fishing, or
tons of other options you should consider adding to your itinerary.
When Bob needed to refuel after his kayaking adventures, he and his wife paid a visit to
Famous Franks Hot Dogs and Grille. Get your dogs Carolina-style with chili and coleslaw. Add on delicious sides while you are there, such as sweet potato fries, chili cheese fries, fried pickles, or onion rings. Don’t worry! There are
other options outside of hot dogs such as burgers, salads, and sandwiches. For the rest of your visit, Elizabeth City can satisfy a variety of tastes and budgets. Enjoy a
hearty breakfast, an
inexpensive lunch, or a
signature Elizabeth City dish for dinner!
Bob particularly enjoyed Elizabeth City's waterfront area located on the beautiful Pasquotank River. The sunrise made the water look like glass, and he got a feel for the local love around the harbor. With restrooms, hot showers, free wi-fi, and loaner bikes for boaters the area has been coined as the “
Harbor of Hospitality.” If you are on the harbor during the right time of year, you can enjoy the
Downtown Waterfront Market to stock upon local goods such as fruits, veggies, jellies, hot sauces, and more! Once you think you have experienced it all, check out our recommended
coastal bucket list to make sure you have explored everything there is to see in the area! Thanks for reading (and listening)! We love hearing about the adventures of our visitors. Share your story with us by using
