Count On Me NC Certified Businesses

Posted on 10/26/2020 by Visit Elizabeth City

count on me nc logoWhether you're in town for the day or a long weekend, Elizabeth City features several Count On Me NC certified places to enjoy your day without putting your health and safety at risk. These are only some of the businesses taking safety seriously in Elizabeth City; here's a link to all of them. Watch the short videos below to hear from some of these businesses about what they're doing to reopen safely amidst the COVID pandemic.

For fun the whole family can enjoy, downtown Elizabeth City is home to Arts of the Albemarle and the Musuem of the Albemarle.

Arts of the Albemarle (AoA) is a local non-profit with a retail art gallery that features more than 250 artists, craftsmen and photographers; The Center features special exhibits; and the restored Maguire Theatre offers a wide range of events throughout the year for performing arts. Hear from Executive Director, Laurie Edwards, about how they're working every day to stay open and stay safe.

The Museum of the Albemarle is a free regional museum that gives visitors a chronological overview of the Albemarle region with exhibits and artifacts from the area. Take a self-guided tour through the museum and explore over 10,000 years of history all while staying safe and healthy with policies and procedures in place with your health top-of-mind.

Just down the street is Page After Page Bookstore. Owner, Susan Hinkle, is friendly and has an unmistakable passion for offering a place for people to shop her eclectic collection of books, novelty gifts, toys, art, music and more! Shop to your heart's content and feel safe while doing so.

Continue your day on the town with a visit to Eclectic Jewelry Designs. Not only can you shop their unique pieces, owner Maria George works with her customers to create new, handcrafted designs that bring their visions to life. The same care she takes with each piece is brought to the store when taking special care and precautions amidst new COVID regulations.

After a long day out, stop for a bite to eat at Montero's Restaurant to "Meet. Eat. Celebrate." with friends and family. Montero's has offered guests a comfortable place for dining and hospitality for 15 years and that hasn't halted with the introduction of additional health and safety practices.

If you have little ones, Zaribel's is a great spot to take the kiddos for programs that focus on developing well-rounded skillsets from dance, motor development, acrobatics, yoga, fitness, and more. Since COVID began, Zaribel has been adapting with virtual classes and class size limitations among other safety precautions to ensure everyone who comes by stays safe. Each student has their own "special magic spot" to ensure social distancing, props and equipment are cleaned between classes, everyone uses hand sanitizer upon entering, mid-class, and once more at the end of the class. While masks are up to the parents' discretion for students, there's plenty of sanitation and distance for the kiddos to have tons of fun while staying safe!

In the face of COVID-19, people and businesses have adjusted habits and practices in efforts to work together to keep businesses open while keeping everyone safe. Count On Me NC is a public health initiative that empowers and encourages us all to create a safer, healthier environment by following guidelines and best practices like wearing a face covering in public, maintaining six feet of distance from others, washing your hands for at least 20 seconds or using hand sanitizer, and more.
